Man, he's cute!
We had a fantastic time at camp--our "last hurrah" as a family of five.
Now it's pretty intense getting ourselves ready for the trip.
Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a 50 lb suitcase of formula another adoptive family gathered and packed for us to take with us to ET.
We have the gifts for the caregivers/orphanage staff gathered and ready to go.
We're waiting for some big checks to arrive in the mail this week from Abba Fund and Pathways for Little Feet so we can pay for our plane tickets, and get the cash we ordered from the bank (it all has to be 2004 and newer, not ripped or written on) to pay for our lodging, food, visas etc. while in Ethiopia. We've been nothing short of amazed watching God provide for this adoption to take place without going into debt. When we didn't quite have the cash on hand to pay for the travel up front, that's when a surprise phone call from Abba and Pathways came in. We are so thankful. There are a lot of YOU who have helped us out. You know who you are, you know what you did, and we are so thankful that you listened to that little voice that told you to do it.
We have lists everywhere and are constantly checking in to see "did you call them...?" or "did you pick up that...?" or "don't forget to..." It's kinda great working together as a team on this huge endeavor.
Friends gifted us two NWA coupons good for a free "luxury" while on our flight to ET. I cannot tell you how excited I am about getting to use those coupons. In-flight movies, here I come!
Tonight, we are feasting on a new Ethiopian recipe called Mesir Wat--a spicy lentil stew. And following it up with a triple chocolate cake for dessert. This next week is going to be filled with hard work tempered with lots of celebration and time with friends and family before we take off for Africa and a whole lotta life change!

He is AMAZING! His eyes capture my heart. I can't image how much you must long to see those eyes face to face and hug him to pieces. Congrats!! My heart longs to adopt and I was teary as I was showing Ry this pics. He chuckled because he reminded me that I'm in early labor tonight and will birth a beautiful child. It just doesn't take away the adoption longing though:)
Love the updated pics! Thanks for making the arrangements to get the formula over. We look forward to following your journey.
He is soooooo adorable! :-) I really appreciate that you chose not to go into debt while paying for this adoption. We are making the same commitment when we adopt again in the future. It is hard to wait and accumulate funds, but it is so worth it! I look forward to reading more of your journey. It is very encouraging and excites me for when we adopt from Ethiopia in the future.
In other countries, they just don't have the same idea of girl's clothes and boy's clothes that we do. When we picked up Ewen, he had on a whole new outfit: shirt, shoes, and GIRL'S pants! ha, ha!
When we received our darling daughter (11/8/06 in Guangzhou, China) she was wearing a boys outfit -- BOY BOY outfit, not just blue! She was the only little girl of 11 to be dressed thus, and we thought it was pretty funny, seeing as how we already had three boys and were looking forward to some pink and some ruffles!
BTW, Taye looks darling in pink. The ruffled collar, not so much.
